Umtiti racially attacked by Lazio fans, Infantino replaced
Samuel Umtiti was the victim of a racist attack by Lazio fans, as was his Lecce teammate Lamek Banda and Gianni Ifandino took to Instagram.
After the racist attack on Vinicius Samuel Umit he was the next to face this scourge that refuses to be eradicated.
The former Barcelona player, along with his Lecce teammate Lamek Banda, received racial abuse from Lazio fans during the game against Lazio.
That drove him referees to end the game in the second part, while the loudspeakers rang out a request to stop the chants.
In the final of the game, Umtiti left the pitch in tears for the dressing room. “That racist slogans were covered by encouraging slogans! All the Giallorossi started chanting just one name: Samuel Umtiti.” Lecce said in his file.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino also commented on the incident, writing:
“Solidarity with Samuel Umtiti and Lamech Banda. Let’s shout it loud and clear: NO TO RACISM!
May the vast majority of supporters who are good people stand up to silence all racists once and for all.”
