Gianiolo addressed Roma management and fans in an open letter
Niccolo Zaniolo wanted to take the first step towards re-establishing his ties with Roma management and his fans through an open letter and to make it clear that he put himself at the disposal of his team.
The first month of 2023 was by far the most difficult in Niccolò Zaniolo’s football career as during this period he managed to break up the relationship with Roma that he had built through his excellent performances on the pitch.
His desire to go to Milan and his refusal to accept Bournemouth’s offer against management’s wishes even led to him receiving threats from organized Giallorossi fans, with the player eventually staying at the Olimpico and Repubblica revealing that the club were changing even took care of removing his photos from the dressing room walls.
What was his reaction after all this? The young striker wanted to pigeonhole all previous bad writing through his open letter, with Zaniolo making himself available to the team and speaking out about things written about him that do not correspond to reality.
“A lot has been said and written about me in the past few weeks that is not true. I came to Roma as an unknown player and the fans welcomed me as one of their own.
They gave me confidence, courage and love in the terrible and dark moments of my hurt.
In Tirana, with that goal (including his winner in the Conference League final against Feyenoord), I felt that I had repaid them everything I had received and contributed to a great and unforgettable moment of joy for the Romanists.
In my 23 years, I’ve had experiences that many of my teammates haven’t had in their entire careers: fall down, get up, fall down, climb again, win.
The last few months have been a special time for me, making it difficult for me to understand what my professional future would look like. However, I have always worked hard and trained with absolute professionalism.
For the first time I feared for myself and my family and felt abandoned. This had never happened to me before and I was scared.
The future is in our hands. I offer my hand and I make myself completely available to the Roma family.”says Zaniolo’s open letter, which he sent to the Italian news agency Ansa.
