Fiorentina – Torino 2-1: In the “4” of the Coppa Italia with Jovic and Icone
Fiorentina defeated Torino 2-1 in the Frankie thanks to goals from Jovic and Icone in the second half, securing a place in the top four of this year’s Coppa Italia.
Revenge is a dish best eaten cold, and Fiorentina made sure it’s served that way in Turin. On January 21, Granata left “Artemio Franki” with three points (1-0) for the championship, but ten days later the scenario written in the same stadium looked different, as the viola won 2-1 in the round of 16 the two teams for the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia and receive the ticket for the semi-finals.
In the first half Fiorentina had a goal against Madragora while both Fiorentina and Torino had several good periods to take the lead with the game still decided in the second half as all three goals of the game were scored during that time.
In the 65th minute, the home side took a corner with Madragora, the ball went to Terzic, who crossed from the left, and Jovic scored with a header from the edge of the box to make it 1-0.
In the 90’s, Vincenzo Italiano’s team countered and Icone made it 2-0 with a very powerful shot from the top of the large penalty area, Torino reduced the score to 90+3 with a Karamo free-kick, but failed to score. With a 2-1 win in the final, Fiorentina became the second team after Inter to secure a place in the top four.
