According to Gazzetta dello Sport and Corriere Romagna, the former Milan, Juventus and Inter coach was hospitalized in Cesena and placed in intensive care.

Italian media reports that he injured himself in his home. Specifically, he fell and hit his head on the ground, losing consciousness.

It is still unclear whether the 69-year-old Italian’s condition was aggravated by his head injury or was the result of another illness, reports the Gazzetta dello Sport.

Zaccheroni had a successful coaching career, with stints at Inter, Milan and Juventus. At the same time he sat on the bench of the national teams of Japan and the United Arab Emirates.

He retired from football in January 2019, with the Italian Championship title in 1998/1999 season with Milan and the Asian Cup with Japan in 2011 gracing his trophy case.
