Lukaku says goodbye to his good friend Atsu in a heartwarming post
Romelu Lukaku shared the Everton dressing room with Christian Atsu and the Ghanaian’s death in Turkey’s deadly earthquake was a blow to the stomach, with the Belgian paying tribute to his friend in a special post.
Christian Atsu could not get out alive from the rubble of the apartment building he was in when the devastating earthquake struck Turkey and Syria almost two weeks ago and his death plunged world football into great sorrow.
Among the players who knew the 31-year-old Ghanaian winger and were shocked by his loss was Romelu Lukaku, who was Atsu’s team-mate at Everton in 2014/15, with the Inter striker not forgetting his friend and saying goodbye via message on his official Instagram account:
“Rest in peace, brother. This punch was too much for anyone. It was amazing being around you. It was fantastic to be together.
Your humility and love for God, the way you worked in training, the love you had for your family and children.
May God give all his strength and bless your soul. I will love you forever”, read Lukaku’s message on Instagram, accompanying a photo of himself with Atsu in the Everton shirt from their Premier League season together.
It is noted that Lukaku has posted some more photos on his Instastory, all of them in honor of Atsu as they show the Belgian striker celebrating his goal against Udinese on Saturday night (18/02) (his second goal in the Series A this year ) pointing to the sky.
