Roberto Soriano scored after 65 Serie A games and wanted to dedicate his goal to Sinisa Mihajlovic, with the Bologna striker bursting into tears when he learned of the Serb’s birthday on TV next Monday.

Bologna won 2-1 at Luigi Ferrari’s Sampdoria on Saturday afternoon and the man who turned heads in the final was Roberto Soriano, who made everyone squirm when the conversation turned to Sinisa Mihajlovic.

The Italian forward for the Rossoblu scored his first goal in 65 league games and 706 days, the last one came on March 14, 2021 and again with Bologna against Sampdoria and he himself thought of the Serbian manager who died on December 16, 2022 at the age of 53.

And this because he was informed that he would be 54 years old next Monday (02/20), whereby the player, who had worked with Mihailovic both at Bologna and at Sampdoria, could not hide his emotions and declared :

“I would like to think that Sinisa also owed that goal. I like to think that he helped me score here in this stadium where we had such good memories together.

It’s been 65 games since my last goal and I’ve been looking for it.” It should be noted that Soriano has worked with Mihajlovic more than any other coach in his career, having played 175 games under his stewardship and recording 24 goals and 27 assists.
