Serie A
Roma 1-0 Juventus: Mancini and the goalposts awarded three gold points
Roma scored with a superb long-range effort from Gianluca Mancini, Juventus hit the post three times and the Giallorossi’s 1-0 kept them in touch with the Serie A top four.
Roma were content with a goal from Gianluca Mancini and with Juventus constantly sending the ball to the post they managed to take the win with them 1-0 for the 25th matchday of Serie A and Milan in 4th place.
Jose Mourinho, on the bench following a temporary suspension, opted to ‘mirror’ the ‘Bianconeri’ 3-5-1-1, favoring Paulo Dybala over Tammy Abraham at the front. The result was enough defensive presence for the hosts and visitors to control the game.
At the end of the 1st half, Adrien Rabiot had a brace as Roma got away without a goal in a non-attacking half.
The 2nd half started with Mancini beating Wojciech Szczesny from outside the league with a great long-range shot, becoming the first player since May 2022.
The 1-0 made it a much tougher game, with the home side not having the ball but tackling quite a few tackles and flirting with injuries (and Mourinho’s wrath).
A Juan Cuadrado free-kick could have turned the game but the ball landed on the outside of the post while the post landed another in the penalty area and Mancini’s header avoided an own goal.
Massimiliano Allegri threw almost all of his offensive weapons onto the turf, leaving Moise Kean last, but as soon as he entered the match he kicked Mancini in a tackle and received a direct red card.
At the end of the game, Juventus missed a double chance, with Rui Patricio keeping his goal intact while being 1-0 in front of tens of thousands of fans who filled the “Olimpico”.
