Adrien Rabiot scored twice as Juventus beat Sampdoria 4-2 in Turin to move closer to the top six and boost their morale ahead of crucial games against Eintracht and Inter Milan.

Juventus wanted to prove that Olimpico’s 1-0 defeat by Roma was a bad game and they did just that. In the middle of the week, they defeated Freiburg 1-0 and took the first step towards Europa League quarter-final qualification, and on Sunday evening (12/03) they defeated Sampdoria 4-2 on matchday 26 of Serie A to move closer up 6th place giving a European ticket and to boost their psyche ahead of the rematch with the Germans and the Derby d’Italia against Inter.

The match

The first 45 minutes at “Juventus Stadium” were full of goals and emotions, Juventus took the lead with two goals and Sampdoria equalized in … 72 seconds. The Bianconeri opened the scoring in the 11th minute with Bremer’s header from a Kostic corner (scored 9 header goals since the 2019-2020 season, Van Dijk is the defender with the most goals in this way in the top 5 of the European Championships with 10) . They made it 2-0 in the 25th minute with an equally impressive header from Rabiot following Miretti’s cross from the right.

Everything looked very easy for Massimo Allegri’s team, only when Sampdoria came and told them that was not the case and scored two goals in the dt time. In the 31st minute, Augello defeated Perin with a powerful shot inside the box to make it 2-1, while in the 32nd minute Zanoni made an impressive run from the right to assist Djurisic and level the game. Impressively, ‘Samp’ has scored 10 away goals in this year’s league, while he has celebrated just three at ‘Luigi Ferraris’.

Rabiot restored order of the game in the second half, with the France midfielder making it 3-2 in the 64th minute with an elusive left-footed shot to end any hopes of Sampdoria of a positive result of the game. Five minutes later, Vlahovic failed from a late goal after sending the ball to the right post from the penalty spot (Cuarado had won it), but that was at 90+4, with Soule making it a 4-2 header after he took the rebound from a Vlahovic header that ended up on the right post.
