Allegri wants Laporte to build Juventus’ new defense around him
Juventus are looking for an experienced centre-back to improve the quality of their defensive line next summer, with Massimo Allegri picking Manchester City’s Emerick Laporte.
Juventus relied heavily on their granite defense to build their 9-year dominance within Italy’s borders (2011-2020) but in recent years that line has faltered and this has Massimo Allegri desperate for an experienced stopper to rely on can base in future years.
In fact, according to a report by Spanish website Relevo, high on his list is Emerick Laporte, who is not getting the playing time he wants at Guardiola’s Manchester City this season, and wouldn’t turn down a suggestion from the vekia signora.
The Spain international defender’s contract with the Citizens expires in the summer of 2025 and currently costs around €30m, while he gets €7m-a-year for his money from City.
It is noted that an injury sustained by Laporte this year has left him behind in relation to Ruben Diaz, John Stones, Manuel Akanji and Nathan Ake, with Allegri aiming to bring the 28-year-old Spain international to Turin to build on him Defence, where in such a case he will be flanked by Bremer, Bonucci, Rugani and Gatti.
