A fire in the ‘Castellani’ dressing room caused a delay in the start of Empoli – Lecce
The match between Empoli and Lecce was postponed by an hour after a small fire broke out in the “Castellani” dressing room and prompted the immediate intervention of the fire department.
Empoli’s match against Lecce for Matchday 28 of Serie A was due to start on Monday afternoon (3/4) at 19:30 Greek time, but this did not take place due to a highly unusual event at the Castellani Stadium.
About an hour before kick-off, the players noticed a strange smell in the Empoli dressing room, which, according to the report of the TV channel “DAZN”, caused a short circuit in the electrical system above the dressing room to catch a small fire and spread quickly.
This whole scene led to the immediate intervention of the fire brigade, with the Italian league announcing that the game has been postponed until the problem is resolved and there is not the slightest risk to the safety of players and fans, with its start time now at 8pm : 30
