Milan have secured a very important victory over Empoli that puts them at a safe distance from their pursuers in the race for the Scudetto in Serie A.

Milan prevailed 1-0 from Empoli at “Giuseppe Meazza” for the 29th game of Serie A and increased the gap to Inter to five points, also with two more games.

The game started… episodically for the “Rossoneri” after Alessandro Florenzi was injured and lay down for a few minutes while Sandro Tonali later vomited on the field. There was a bright side, however, after a 19th-minute shot from Pierre Caloulou found the Tuscan net outside the main area.

Olivier Giroud tried in various ways, including acrobatic aerial shots, to become top scorer for the second consecutive year after his derby winner against Napoli, but did not have a good day.

Most “Rossoneri” finals were missed even when Ande Rebic and Zlatan Ibrahimovic came into play in the second half. In fact, the greatest moment belonged to the visitors when Mike Menian jumped and kicked a 49th-minute attempt by Sebastiano Luperto.

The “Rossoneri” stayed 1-0 until the end, despite the substitution of… ex-Patrick Coutrone, who tried to score another goal at the San Siro.
