Serie A: Announcement against racism in the stadiums after the attack on Lukakus

Lega Serie A issued a statement against racism just hours after Juventus fans attacked Romelu Lukaku.

With an announcement under the title “Racists out of the stadiums” Serie A has issued a statement condemning any incident of racism without specifically addressing what happened in the Coppa Italia semi-final in Juventus’ game against Inter and victim Romelu Lukaku.

The announcement was posted on the Italian league website on Wednesday morning and read: “The Lega Serie A categorically condemns every incident of racism and every form of discrimination. A few people in the stands cannot spoil the spectacle of a football match and do not represent the thoughts of all the fans and spectators in the stadium happily embracing the sport’s highest values. Serie A sides will, as they always have, identify the culprits and ban them from their stadiums for life.

“The Keep Racism Out campaign and the agreement signed with UNAR two weeks ago (ss National Anti-Racism Service) are solid steps of engagement in this long and unrelenting struggle that will produce immediate results: racists and their insults will be removed from the field.”

Announcement by Inter

A little later, Inter also published a statement supporting his player after the attack in the “Allianz Stadium”.

“We are brothers and sisters of the world. This has been our story since March 9, 1908. We want to reiterate that we are united against racism and any form of discrimination. Football and sport should not only be a place of emotions but and clear and shared values, and what we saw last night in the last minutes of the Coppa Italia semi-final between Juventus and Inter Milan in Turin has no place in our sport, which is why We reiterate our support, affection and solidarity with Romelu Lukaku, as does the football world from everywhere in the wake of the incident. Stay strong Rome, we are with you”reported.

The office of the manager representing Lukaku also issued a statement shortly after the incident, stressing that the Belgium forward was celebrating in his usual way (with a military salute and a finger over his mouth asking for silence). and none should have received a yellow card, finishing second in the race.

He also called on Juventus to apologize for his fans’ racist attack on Lukaku and on the federation to lift the red card.

In the 37th minute of the game, the Georgian international earned a foul and a yellow card from his opponent, in a phase that took place in front of Mourinho, who insisted that there was not even a foul.

Afterwards, the Portuguese technician initially shouted at Kvaratshelias, telling him that he was just acting, but as he approached Georgianos, he hugged him, kissed him and began talking to him in a very calm tone while the two men found each other.
