Fazoli cried on the bench after his mistake cost Juventus defeat in Sassuolo
Niccolò Fazzoli accidentally assisted Defrel in Sassuolo’s winning goal against Juventus, causing him to burst into tears on the Bianconeri bench when the substitution was made.
Juventus had been looking for victory on Easter Sunday at the “Mapei Stadium” (4.40 p.m. to travel to Lisbon in a good mood before the Europa League quarter-final second leg against Sporting (1-0 in Turin)), but they didn’t find it.
Instead, they went away empty-handed after a 1-0 defeat, with the only goal of the game coming in the 64th minute from Defrel. The France striker beat Perin with a shot inside the box after being unintentionally assisted by Nikolo Fazzoli.
This phase also left its mark on Fazoli, as the 22-year-old Italy midfielder came on as a substitute two minutes later (Miretti came on for him in the 66th minute) and burst into tears on his team’s bench, unable to contain his disappointment.
In fact, his teammate Pinsolio rushed to his side and tried to comfort him to lift his spirits, with Fazoli covering his face with a jacket to hide his tears.
“He’s a very responsible boy, he made a mistake but he’s not to blame for the loss. We are all responsible.” said Massimo Allegri at the press conference when asked about his player’s outburst on the bench.
