Lukaku: ‘Inter gave me everything and I have to give everything for Inter’

This season has been quite difficult for Romelu Lukaku as he stayed in the pits most of the time and worked hard to overcome his injury problems, but the hoped-for redemption came in the winning match at Empoli’s home game (3-0).

And that’s because he netted twice and scored in open play for the first time since last August (253 days total). The Belgium international forward celebrated with the crowd and sanity at the end of the game in his statements about the need to repay Inter for the love received.

“We should always thank the fans because in every game they give the players confidence to do better. This is an extremely difficult season for us and we thank the fans for their support.”
