Pioli: “Leao has good hopes for the second leg with Inter”
Stefano Pioli has announced that AC Milan will have several absentees in the league clash against Spezia but is optimistic that Rafael Leao will be fit in the Champions League semi-final second leg against Inter Milan.
Milan suffered a heartbreaking 2-0 defeat by Inter Milan in the Champions League semi-final first leg and now find themselves in a difficult position heading into the grand final in Istanbul on June 10, but the big question now lies with their friends Der Head before the rematch is… Rafael Leao.
The reason for the long absence from the first game with the compatriot in the background of the final was that the Portuguese could not overcome his injury problem and his team-mates lagged behind in terms of speed and imagination in attack.
Ahead of the second game, however, the latest news is encouraging: Stefanos Pioli admitted his team will face many injury problems in the crucial away game against Spezia but revealed he has a good chance of being ready next Tuesday (16/05) the Portuguese international striker.
“We have a few minor issues, such as the fact that Rafa will not be available on Saturday, but there is a good chance he will train on Sunday and be fit again on Tuesday.”
Zlatan and Florenzi will also be sidelined, while Krunic and Mesias, who were also injured, will be absent. Pioli emphasized at the press conference on Friday and added to the game against Spezia, which was decisive for the four-way battle:
“There is an obligation to win the game, both for our position in the table and for our preparation for the second leg against Inter in the Champions League.”
From now on, however, we will play with our minds and our hearts. It will also be an important game for Spezia as they will play for the first time this season after falling below the relegation zone.”
