Loukakou wins the Serie A Best Player award for the 2020-21 season
This season at Chelsea is troubled, but last year Lukaku was Inter’s A and Z and that was reflected in the vote by the Football Association of Italy which gave him the honor at the top of Serie A for 2020-21.
Romelu Loukakou has been one of the cornerstones of Inter’s stunning run of the 2020-21 season and capturing his first Scudetto since 2010 and honors for the Belgian striker don’t stop on the occasion.
The latter came from the Association of Professional Footballers of Italy (AIC), which announced at a football gala it organized that it was awarding Loukakou the title of the best player of the past season in Serie A.
“It’s an honor to receive this award, but I couldn’t have done it without my teammates and Conte. It’s an honor to have beaten Cristiano Ronaldo, one of the top three players in football history.”emphasized the Belgian at his award ceremony:
“Playing in Serie A was a dream come true, I did everything to become a winner in Italy.
It’s something special to beat Ronaldo, it really took me to another level of the game. “This is an award that gives me a lot of confidence for the future.”
Lukaku was naturally included in the season’s top 11, along with the other 10 players that make it up: Donaruma (Milan), Hakimi (Inter), De Fry (Inter), Bastoni (Inter), Hernandez (Milan), Barela ( Inter), Cassier (Milan), Chiesa (Juventus), Muriel (Atalanta) and Ronaldo (Juventus).
The top coach of the last league season was current Tottenham manager Antonio Conte, while the best referee award went to Daniele Orsato and the best player to Cristiana Girelli.
It is noted that the Professional Players Association in Italy was founded in 1968 and currently has 4,500 members, of which 2,500 are professionals.
