Leao: “I want to be a very important player for Milan today and tomorrow”
Rafael Leao wanted to dispel any last doubts that might have lingered over his Milan commitment as the Portuguese striker clarified that he had never considered leaving and that he wants to make history with the Rossoneri.
His social media posts following Maldini-Massara’s sacking (which came just days after his new deal was signed) have led many Milan fans to believe that Rafael Leao isn’t as steadfast at San Siro and he cares still make sure things fit together.
Hailing from Portugal, where he plays for his country’s national team, the young international striker made statements in which he made it clear, among other things, that not only has he never considered leaving, but is also determined himself to make history with the Rossonera shirt to write.
“I had made the decision to stay at Milan several weeks before signing my contract and told the managers it was what I wanted.”
When I came here at the age of 19, I was welcomed in a wonderful way and those years have helped me to progress and become the footballer that I am.
That’s why I never thought about leaving, I want to continue being an important player for Milan now and in the future.” stressed Leao, who also referred to the Champions League final that ended in the hands of Manchester City.
“I’m very happy for Ruben Diaz and Bernardo Silva, but I’m sorry that I couldn’t be in the final with my team to lift the trophy.”
Winning the Champions League is a dream for every footballer and I’m very happy for my team-mates in the Portuguese national team.
