Milan and Inter confirm they are considering leaving San Siro and building their stadium elsewhere

Milan and Inter have jointly sent a letter confirming they will change the location of their new stadium if the schedule is not met.

Tuesday was intense for the Milan and Inter stadiums, although everything seemed to be in line with the Cattedrale project, everything is now in flux.

On Tuesday morning Gazzetta dello Sport reported that the two clubs are considering abandoning the project and building their new stadium away from San Siro hill in Sesto San Giovanni. The reason is the non-fulfilment of guarantees from the responsible authorities regarding compliance with the schedules and the implementation of the stadium by 2027.

Milan Mayor Bebe Sala responded to the article with a statement presenting a letter from the two clubs last week that made no mention of any dissatisfaction.

The official placement of the “Rossoneri” and the “Nerazzurri” took place in the afternoon with a joint letter to the Italian news agency ANSA, in which they announced that there was a pinch of truth in both previous positions.

“Regarding the project of the new stadium in Milan, Inter and Milan would like to make it clear that they continue a constructive dialogue with the local authorities in order to prepare a dossier that can be used in public consultations if we hope to speed up the process to build a new San Siro, in a more comprehensive plan to transform the area that will be dedicated to sport and entertainment.

KFor both clubs, the construction of a new stadium remains an absolute priority, knowing that the approval timing will be met. However, they remain open to other options in the absence of suitable conditions to build a new stadium in San Siro as originally planned. , it says in their joint letter.
