Pirlo: “To sit on the bench at Sampdoria is like in Serie A”

Andrea Pirlo has had a high (Juventus) and a low (Karagiumruk) and now, on his third cap on the team’s bench, he’s ready for the… difficult.

Such is the situation now at Sampdoria after being relegated to Serie B. The “maestro” does not hide his enthusiasm for the new challenge that lies ahead and promises to fight for the Genoese in the best possible way.

“Coaching Sampdoria is like a Serie A coach, I’ve chosen a big plan and I’m full of anticipation. It’s a great opportunity for me and for everyone because they saved an iconic team in Italy.”

We didn’t have good conditions there to do anything, but we achieved great things and were against everyone. He helped me as a coach. Now I’m more experienced and aware of the mistakes I’ve made in the past.

On the difficulties he anticipates in Serie A, he said: “The goal is to work towards a great season. Serie B is different from other competitions, but it’s an important league, the aim is to get as high as possible and as fast as possible.”
