Atalanta – Naples 1: 3: demonstration of power in Bergamo

Napoli went with a win 3-1 from Bergamo and showed Atalanta what she needs to make it to the championship. The ‘Partenopei’ were serious, took their chances and didn’t bother with the hosts’ lavish final in the 31st Serie A game.

Gian Piero Gasperini didn’t start a duo between Luis Muriel and Duvan Sapata, leaving the winger on the bench. It was only in the 14th minute that Atalanta had to chase after Lorenzo Insigne opened the shot from the penalty spot. The hosts had two good moments with heads to open the scoring but they were pretty much out of place. On the contrary, Mateo Politano made it 2-0 in the 37′ with one of the guests’ rare attacks.

Alexei Miranchuk and Jeremy Boga came into play at halftime but didn’t change the picture of the game. The hosts continued to fail from various positions to make the guests more targeted and ultimately more dangerous.

In the 58th minute, Marten de Ron reduced the lead to 1:2, but Luciano Spalletti’s players made sure to slow down as much as possible. For this reason, Elif Elmas and Fabian Ruith went into the match. The first became top scorer in 81′, with a goal that ‘consolidated’ the win and kept Napoli in the title race.
