Romelu Lukaku has made his first comments as a Roma player after making his deal with the Giallorossi official, citing in particular the relationship he has built with Jose Mourinho over the years.

Roma have agreed with Chelsea on the one-year loan of Romelu Lukaku for a fee of €5,800,000 and on Thursday (31/8) the two sides exchanged vows with the Belgian striker signing his contract with Chelsea the Giallorossi, which bring him the sum of 7,500,000 euros in the new season.

Immediately after the contract announcement, the former Manchester United and Chelsea forward made his first statements as a Roma player on the club’s official channel. Lukaku cited the excellent impressions he had received from his new club and his willingness to work with Mourinho.

“The reception that this club and these fans gave me moved me and is an additional motivation to give everything for my new team. I breathed the atmosphere of the Olimpico stadium as an opponent, I felt the warmth of the Romanisti fans and today it’s nice to be part of the team.

It only took one phone call to persuade me to sign. The owners called me a few days before the deal and we spoke for 30 minutes about the ambitions they have for this team and the fans. Since then everything has developed rapidly.

We talked about what they expect from me and the team.” stressed the 30-year-old Belgian striker, who particularly indicated that he will work with Jose Mourinho again. “Ever since I was 11 I’ve wanted to work with him, now I can say it’s the third time I’ll do it (after Chelsea and Manchester United).

He knows me well, he knows my family well, he knows what kind of person I am and I know him. Together we can do beautiful things, we have a great team, we have to work and we will look at each game individually.”
