Mourinho on Roma’s lost final against Sevilla: ‘If I say what I believe, I’ll be banned for 10 games’
Jose Mourinho recalled Roma’s loss of the Europa League final against Sevilla and, referring to Anthony Taylor’s refereeing behavior, stressed that he would be punished very severely by UEFA if he spoke freely.
Not only did Roma lose the Europa League to Sevilla last July, they were also without their bench and Jose Mourinho for several games.
His verbal attack on referee Anthony Taylor resulted in a penalty from UEFA, which banned him for four European games.
Speaking to Sky Sports two months later, the Portugal manager recalled losing the final but avoided commenting on it, stressing that he would be punished very severely if he said what he wanted.
“Winning the Europa League with Manchester United was something normal for me. If I say what I think about Roma-Seville, I think I’ll be banned for ten games.”the Special One said at first, adding:
“I’ve never cried on the pitch after a defeat. Sometimes I cry after a win and these two games (Rome-Seville, Rome-Feyenoord) are historical for Roma.”
