Inter beat Milan in the Derby della Madonnina, taking the lead 5-1 and showing who is boss in the city of Milan.

Inter achieved their biggest win in the Derby della Madonnina since 1974 and with the 5-1 over Milan on matchday 4 of Serie A left alone at the top of the table and confirmed that he is the boss of the city.

The two rivals were the only teams that had played 3/3 at the start of the season and the game between them would decide everything.

Simone Inzaghi’s team used the tactics of Europe and grabbed their opponents by the throat in the opening minutes. It wasn’t until the 6th minute that Henrik Mikitarian sent the ball into the net and a little later the Armenian striker had a great chance to make it 2-0.

The response from Stefano Pioli’s men was better than in the first Champions League semi-final last year and he missed a chance with Rafael Leao while pushing high up the pitch.

The “rosoneri” had almost 70% possession of the ball and when they lost it, they tried to win it back immediately. However, the inspiration from the center was nil, so there were hardly any dangerous attacks. Theo Hernandez’s runs caused disruption in the Nerazzurri’s defense and together with Leao they were the best Milan had to offer.

The Nerazzurri withstood another counterattack that left the visitors’ defense in disarray. In the 38th minute, Markus Turam scored a great goal with a shot into the opponent’s corner.

In the 57th minute, Leao reduced the score, but at some point Inter regained control of the game and accompanied the weather by storm in Milan. He no longer relied solely on Denzel Dumfries, attacked from all sides and Mikitarian restored the gap to two goals in the 69th minute.

Milan collapsed, Inter eliminated them and scored another goal with a Hakan Calhanoglu penalty. The Turkish midfielder scored again against his former club and was completely impressed even when he was substituted and left on the bench.

The introduction of Samus Chukwueze and Noah Okafor failed to result in a goal for the Rossoneri’s attack, instead Davide Fratezzi led them to a 5-1 final, with Inter scoring five goals in the Derby della Madonnina for the first time since 1974.

This was also Inter’s fifth consecutive win in all competitions, all in 2023.
