The three names that play heavily on the Napoli bench
Napoli’s poor start has put Rudi Garcia’s place in jeopardy and Gazzetta dello Sport presents three candidates for the Partenopei bench.
Italian champions Napoli are off to a bad start in this year’s Serie A. After eight games, the Partenopei are in 5th place with 14 points, -7 points behind leaders Milan.
Aurelio De Laurentiis is not known for his patience and already in Italy the scenarios have begun for the next day on the Napoli bench in the event of Rudy Garcia’s dismissal. Gazzetta dello Sport even presented three names for a possible replacement for the French coach.
The first is his Antonio Conte. He is De Laurentiis’ dream, but his “cache” is unaffordable for Napoli. The Italian coach received nine million euros at Tottenham and has to significantly reduce his demands in order to sit on the Partenopei bench.
The next name on the list is his Igor Tudor. The Croatian former PAOK coach is free after his collaboration with Marseille ends. De Laurentiis likes Tudor and his case will be even stronger if Garcia is fired.
Finally there is also Marcelo Gaiardo. The historic River manager is at the top of the list but remains the riskier option as the Argentine has yet to work in Europe.
