Juventus, Milan, Napoli and Lazio veteran Paolo di Canio called Niccolò Fazzoli and Sandro Tonali “stupid” for their gambling addictions.

Niccolò Fazzoli cooperated with the authorities after it was revealed that he was involved in a betting scandal and went south. The Italian federation announced that his punishment would be a seven-month ban from playing.

After Fazoli, Tonali agreed with the Turin prosecutor’s office to a ten-month suspension and a fine of more than 12,500,000 euros.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sports, veteran Juventus, AC Milan, Napoli and Lazio star Paolo Di Canio described players who engaged in illegal betting as fools.

“There are a million things they could ‘play’. Bet on cats, dogs, hamsters. I’m not suggesting anything.”

Of course it would be better not to play at all. Do you bet on football? You must be empty. This is stupidity. You must be an idiot. Luckily we’re not talking about fixed matches here.”
