Napoli – Milan 2-2: The champion’s heart saves the point against Giroud’s head

Olivier Giroud gave AC Milan a two-goal lead at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, but Napoli fought back to draw 2-2.

Olivier Giroud’s header gave Milan a two-goal lead, but Napoli had the final say and equalized 2-2 at “Diego Armando Maradona” on the 10th matchday of Serie A.

The “rosoneri” had the upper hand in the first part and were not deterred by Pierre Kaloulou’s injury. Stefano Pioli’s men had settled into their home stadium and Giroud headed home twice in nine minutes.

These were not the only chances for Milan, who could have increased the gap between the two teams in goal with Rafael Leao and Christian Pulisic.

Rudi Garcia made two changes at half-time (and Pioli another) and Napoli changed on the pitch, notably improving their defensive function.

Hvitsa Kvaratshelia started his show, but finally the reduction started from the other side and in the 50’s minutes a great energy came from Matteo Politano. Minutes later, Giacomo Raspadori’s free kick tied the game.

In the final half hour, both teams missed several chances in a tense finale that left a bitter taste in the mouths of both, despite the Rossoneri remaining unbeaten at this stadium since 2018.
