Patrick’s shocking confession: ‘I had a problem with anxiety and depression due to coronavirus’
Spanish Lazio defender Patrick surprised everyone during a press conference when he publicly admitted that he was struggling to overcome the specter of depression at the time of the coronavirus outbreak.
Professional footballers who compete at high levels theoretically have comfortable lives with enough privileges, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t people with weaknesses and vulnerabilities.
Patrick reminded everyone when the Spanish Lazio defender revealed during a Lazio press conference ahead of their Serie A away game against Bologna that he suffered from depression in 2020 due to Covid.
“I suffered a lot because I was locked up at home alone with the coronavirus. I tried to do the same things because I felt like I was growing up.
Then out of nowhere I started having problems with depression and anxiety. For me everything was dark. I started working with a mental health coach and found myself again,” emphasized the 30-year-old defender and added:
“The season with no people in the stadiums was the worst, it had a very big impact on us. Then Luis Felipe’s injury came and I had to play in all the games even though I wasn’t.” So.
But I never gave in because people are tested in such situations. This year was very difficult, the easiest thing was to give up, but I didn’t do it.
If I’m feeling better today, it’s because of this difficult time.”
