Serie A
Lazio 1-2 Milan: Top three points with big upset in 92′
Milan only had their backs against the wall at Lazio in the 4th minute, but Zirou equalized in the 50th minute and Tonali signed the surprise at 90+2 for the senior Rossoneri (1-2), who shot them up front at +2 from Inter.
The oil in Milan’s lamp is not ready yet. Stefano Pioli’s side were surpassed in the goalscoring chart by Ciro Imobile in Serie A in the “Olimpico” against Lazio with Ciro Imobile’s 26th goal of the year, but not only didn’t concede, they pushed for the overthrow to the end and found it worthy . even if they have a heart attack and had to wait for him to arrive in the delays.
Olivier Zirou was the one who leveled the game in the 50th minute, using a great assist from Rafael Leao, while it was Zlata Ibrahimovic who fed Sandro Tonali at 90+2 to beat Stracosa from the height of the small area and write the 2-1 for the Milanese with a goal that could possibly play a big role in the Scudetto case.
With that result (for the first time since the 2004/05 season when Milan beat Lazio three times in the same season, twice for the league and once for the cup), the Red Devils reached the top and now have Inter +2 more games, while Lazio remained in 7th place.
The game
Lazio pulled off the absolute surprise in Milan after finding nets in their first big streak, right in the 4th minute. Milinkovic-Savic took a low cross from the right and Immobile was thrown into the heart of the Milan defence, beating Rossoneri-Stopper and Menian to make it 1-0.
This was his 26th in this season’s Serie A, with the Italy international just fourth Player in the top five European leagues (after Lewandowski, Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo) who has scored at least three times over 25 goals in a season since the start of the 2016/17 season (his first time at Lazio).
Milan overcame the shock relatively quickly after the 15th minute, taking full control and not letting go until the end of the first half, with Pioli’s players having the ball more time on their feet and creating phases but the ball from the effort not netted by Zirou, Leao, Tonali and Hernandez and the 1-0 to seal the first 45 minutes.
However, the Rossoneri didn’t give up and paid the Romans in the same currency after equalizing in the fifth minute of the second half. The dominating Leo intercepted Lazio’s defense from the left and, at the right moment, turned it to the height of the small area, with Zirou creating the lead and writing the 1-1 in an apotheosis before the more than 10,000 Milan fans who had traveled to the Italian capital.
That goal gave Milan even more impetus, who missed a great opportunity to bring down Messiah in the 62nd minute while Lazio, in turn, tried to level the game somewhat.
Stefano Pioli threw in Krunic and Ibrahimovic to apply even more pressure, with Milan picking up steam again after 80 minutes and creating two great chances in a minute to turn around.
Both stopped at Stracosa, however, with the Lazio keeper deflecting saves in the 84th minute, stopping Leao’s powerful shot into the box and, in the 85th minute, Rebic’s shot landed in his right corner.
In the 89th minute it was Ibrahimovic’s turn to touch the goal (the ball hit an opponent’s foot when he shot and went to the corner, Strakosa watched a pillar of salt), the game went into delay and there was salvation with one Goal Milan deserved for its image.
Rebic made the shot, Acerbi couldn’t clear, Ibrahimovic immediately turned to the height of the small space and Tonali took control to beat Strakosa and sign a huge upset (1-2).
Latsio: Strakosa, Latsari (80′ Felipe), Patrick (80′ Hisai), Acerbi, Radu (63′ Marusic), Milinkovic-Savic, Leiva (61′ Cataldi), Alberto (60′ Basic, Anderson, Imobile, Giacani
MILAN: Menian, Calabria, Kaloulou, Tomori, Hernandez, Tonali, Cesier, Messiah (70’Krunic), Diath (68′ Ibrahimovic), Leao, Zirou (68’Rebic)
