Florenci is also being investigated for illegal betting
The illegal betting scandal in Italy never ends. Reports from the neighboring country suggest that Alessandro Florenzi is the next player to be brought to justice by prosecutors in Turin.
Football Italy has long been rocked by a case of illegal betting involving several footballers. Sandro Tonali and Niccolò Fazzoli found themselves in the spotlight of the judiciary and received playing bans for 10 and 7 months respectively.
In addition to the Newcastle and Juventus midfielder, Niccolò Zaniolo is also under investigation. The Aston Villa midfielder made a statement about the case to prosecutors on the evening (he claimed he only played online games such as video poker and blackjack). On Wednesday (November 15th) another name saw the light of day.
This is Alessandro Florenzi. Italian media have revealed that police have informed AC Milan’s right-back that he is officially under investigation for illegal betting. His own case concerns betting on games of chance (like Gianiolo’s) and the player he was summoned to. The file will be submitted to the Turin Public Prosecutor’s Office within the next few days.
