There were incidents on the road in front of Bologna – Roma in which police officers were injured
Bologna’s game against Roma was marred by incidents between fans of both teams before kick-off, with police stepping in to separate them and those injured.
In the competition, Bologna was the big winner of the battle against Roma after winning 2-0 at “Dal’Ara” on matchday 16 of Serie A and climbing to fourth place in the table.
Before half-time, however, there was one big loser and that was Italian football. Hordes of fans from both teams were involved in clashes in the streets of Bologna, throwing smoke and objects of all kinds and inciting panic among unsuspecting citizens.
Italian media reported that decisive police intervention was necessary to prevent the situation from spiraling further out of control, with three police officers injured and receiving immediate medical treatment.
