Mourinho replaced Sanchez after 18 minutes and apologized to him at the press conference
Jose Mourinho replaced Renato Sanchez in the 64th minute of the game against Bologna, kept him on the pitch for only 18 minutes and wanted to publicly apologize to his player for his decision in the subsequent press conference.
The game at Renato Dall’Ara didn’t go well for Roma. Jose Mourinho’s team, without the injured Romelu Lukaku and Paulo Dybala, lost 2-0 to Bologna and fell out of the top six in the standings.
In fact, in addition to the defeat, there was another event that cast a heavy shadow over the Giallorossi and disturbed the calm in the dressing room. This had to do with a decision by Jose Mourinho that put Renato Sanchez in an awkward position.
And that’s because at the start of the second half, the Portuguese brought his compatriot into the game instead of Spinazzola as a first corrective measure from the bench, but then replaced him in the 64th minute with Bovet (second change for Roma).
This move sparked both surprise and displeasure from Sanchez, with the special representative even apologizing to him for his decision during his statements in the post-match press conference.
“I would like to publicly apologize to Sanchez, it is hard for a footballer but even harder for a manager.”
I’ve done it three to four times in my career, but I apologize to him.Mourinho said characteristically.
