A Verona player with all the formalities as of Tuesday (25 January) is Panagiotis Retsos, who the Italians will take over and announce as a free agent from Bayern Leverkusen. Indeed, in their announcement, the Italians welcomed him in Greek, writing, “Welcome Panos.” In fact, Retsos chose number 45 with whom he will play at the Italian club.
As you can read on Sportish, Leverkusen maintains a resale rate of 10% and the Greek defender has signed a contract for an initial period of 1.5 years until 2023, according to the announcement from Verona.
There is an automatic renewal option for a further three years in both parties’ contract, meaning that if all goes well he will be based in Verona until 2026. The overtime will be automatic when the Greek stopper reaches a certain number of times.
The Greek defender has made eight appearances for Leverkusen this season, wearing the shirt in 43 games, with one goal and three assists. Verona will be the fifth stop in his career, after Olympiakos, Leverkusen and Sheffield United, St Etienne, for which he was loaned out by the German team.
