Mertens drops his case to stay with Napoli
Mertens wants to continue his career at Napoli and is therefore willing to take a pay cut to continue playing for Diego Maradona.
A step towards staying in Napoli has been taken Dry Mertenswho, according to Gianluca Di Marzio, has no problem dropping his case to continue in the Partenopei for years to come.
The 35-year-old Belgium midfielder has been free for a few days as his previous contract with Napoli expired but Luciano Spalletti’s team remains his priority after rejecting other offers.
Mertens has played for Napoli since the summer of 2013 when he was acquired from Eindhoven for €10m. In total, he has worn the Partenopei shirt 397 times, scoring 148 goals and 90 assists. In fact, his goals scored make him the all-time top scorer in Napoli history.
