Gervinho’s contract and Siopis’ guarantees
The guarantees from Manolis Sopis, who was a teammate of Gervinios at Trabzonspor, and the deal the Ivorian is expected to sign at Aris.
At the same time as Sandy Mina’s case, Gervinho’s case was being “handled” by Aris officials.
And this despite the fact that they are not footballers with similar characteristics and styles. The Spanish forward didn’t accept a move to the Greek league in early July, which accelerated talks with the Ivorian international winger.
Talks that led relatively quickly to an agreement that was finalized ahead of the friendly against Olympiakos on Monday (7/11), with the 35-year-old winger expected to arrive in Thessaloniki on Wednesday (7/13) and Aris staff having received the necessary Recommendations for both his health (he suffered a torn ligament last October, an injury that kept him out of action for around seven months) and character from former Trabzonspor team-mate – and ex-yellow man – Manolis Silence.
The deal Gervinho struck last year with the Turkish champions, who were sacked from Parma, is telling.Two-year contract with 1.5 million euros per year and a signing bonus of 1.3 million.
The deal offered by Aris is more meaningful, with the third-place finisher in last year’s championship being agreed with the African ace instead of a sum that will not exceed €500,000 a year.
The length of the deal Gervinho will sign is yet to be determined, with information pointing to either a one-year deal or a ‘split’ two-year deal (1+1).
