Buffon: “I can retire at 55”
At the age of 44, Gianluigi Buffon keeps fighting and doing what he loves most while expressing the belief that he can do it until he is 55.
Last summer, Gianluigi Buffon left Juventus to continue his career in Parma, where he took his first steps in football.
The 44-year-old goalkeeper, who made 26 Serie B appearances last season and kept eight clean sheets, left open the possibility that he could continue playing until he was 55.
“The first ten years at Parma was my first life, then I spent 20 years at Juventus, my second life, followed by a year in Paris and two years at Juventus and now I’m coming full circle at Parma. It’s not even 100 .I will more or less retire at 55.
I’ve debated when to quit for many years, more than ten, but I keep going. Then I don’t know what I’m going to do. I’ve gained very important experience, but I’m not 100% sure I’ll stay in the field. Maybe I would like to gain other experiences. I know football well, but I’m curious and I want to get to know other worlds.”
