De Laurentiis announced Mertens’ departure from Napoli
Dries Mertens will not wear the Napoli shirt next season, Aurelio De Laurentiis admitted on Kiss Kiss Napoli radio station.
Dries Mertens will not continue his career at Napoli and will be a thing of the past after 2013. A few days ago, Spalletti announced the negative development of the case.
However, the Belgian’s departure was also heard from the most official lips. More specifically, the President of the Partenopei, Aurelio De Laurentiis, in an interview with Radio station Kiss Kiss Napoli said goodbye to Mertens.
His exact words will be known on Saturday night when the interview is also played, however the news leaked early on. His contract expired on June 30, attempts were made to find the golden ratio but an agreement to extend it was never reached.
Napoli bought Mertens from Eindhoven in 2013 for 9.48 million euros. With the Partenopei jersey he had a total of 397 appearances with 148 goals and 90 assists.
