Biel offers Korberan many solutions and improves Olympiacos’ attack quality
Olympiacos sign excellent striker Biel and are looking to sign a winger, a central midfielder and a left-back. There are contacts for Cavaleiro (Fulham), Bildgaard (Rubin Kazan) and Lato (Valencia).
The map changes when Olympiakos attack. And it’s changing dramatically with the latest additions, namely last week’s Wii-Jo and now his Pep Biel. The Red-Whites continued with a quality upgrade in attack, offering Carlos Corberan solutions for all systems.
Olympiacos is ready for other tricks. But let’s take a closer look at who the Spain coach currently has in his hands:
At the centre-forward position, Olympiacos have added their top scorer for the last three years, Arabi, and the excellent Ouizho (a player currently worth €7,000,000) and Aboubakar Kamara – Hassan is logically discarded.
In position “10” the Rot-Weissen add Biel (with a purchase of 6,000,000 euros from Copenhagen) to their squad and have Fortunis, Zinkernagel, Valbuena, while Inbom Huang can also play there.
On the right flank, Piraeus have Biel (the Spaniard is just as good on the flanks of attack), Rodríguez, Ranjelovic and Brusaj.
Masuras, De la Fuente and also Zinkernagel and Valbuena are used on the left flank. In fact, the red-whites want to add another winger to their lively squad (there are contacts with Fulham’s Ivan Cavaleiro).
And at position “8” of attacking midfielder, Olympiacos has Inbom Huang, Kunde, A. Kamaras and Bouhalakis.
Midfielder (Abildgaard) and left-back (Lato) hold
However, the Piraeus team is ready to move to other positions with reinforcements. In that of defensive midfielder (there are discussions about the acquisition of Oliver Bildgaard from Rubin Kazan or Morlanes from Villarreal) and left-back (they are in contact with Toni Lato from Valencia, who is wanted by Getafe, while an involvement has been observed in the last hours in the case of Jordan Amavi, for whom the red-whites seem to be backing down).
Notwithstanding this, good players in these positions must be acquired by Friday (2 September) in order to be included in UEFA’s list for Europa League group stage matches.
It’s definitely worth vouching for someone more than Biel, on the one hand because he’s Olympiakos’ most recent transfer acquisition, on the other hand because he’s a player who can offer Corberan many solutions.
It’s no coincidence that the Red and White coach insisted on his transfer and had him at the top of his list from the start. But because it was a very expensive transfer, he kept a low profile.
Biel in Copenhagen was used in the positions of staff midfielder, winger and center forward. Although small, he has been used at the top of attack in the Danish team this season (7 games, 6 goals and 3 assists in the league). With Arabi, Wi-Jo and Amb Kamara present, there is no reason for him to play there.
The 26-year-old left-footed Spanish forward, whose birthday is in six days, excels in the bottom 10 and right wing position, starting his efforts from the flanks and converging towards the axis.
He is fast, strong, technically well trained, shoots from medium and long distances, can take free kicks and corners well and, above all, scores fluently.
But the most important thing for Olympiakos is that they add quality to their line-up and squad. Featuring Embilla (at 6), Inbom Huang (at 8), Biel (at 10) and Ui-Jo (at 9), from the center and in front of the axis – but also with excellent add-ons we mentioned above – the Reds and White have the ability to play good football and get the results they want in the league and in Europe by achieving their goals.
