Carlos Zeka, who few know about Pep Biel, spoke exclusively to Sportish about the Olympiakos Spanish midfielder, his best position on the pitch, the elements he will love in the red-white world, what he is for has told him Greece, the prank he pulled on Panathinaikos while “voting” Klee when he returns.

Olympiacos made an excellent transfer. The Red and Whites dressed Pep Biel in red and white for the next five years, buying him out of Copenhagen. A great deal, with Piraeus management operating in the utmost secrecy and playing the roue mat, using a player who – based on data – can make the difference.

The 25-year-old Spanish midfielderwho started the league in Denmark on 17 July, started all seven games for his former club, scoring five goals and providing three assists. He also played a key role in the doubles games with Trabzonspor that earned the Danes a place in the Champions League groups.

Overall, Biel has 128 appearances, 32 goals and 28 assists in the Copenhagen shirt in all competitions, while he scored in both meetings with PAOK in the Conference League group last year.

That Sportish spoke to Carlos Zeca, a player few know about Biel as they have played together and lived side by side in the Danish capital. The international central midfielder referred to what he told him about Greece, the elements that characterize him but also his decision to come to our country.

Of course, he couldn’t help but be asked about his own footballing future and whether he was thinking about his return, qualifying against Bakaseta and Siopis, but also about the national team, which made a fresh and double start at the same time with Gustavo Poget on the Bank.

I told him that Olympiacos is a big team and will definitely do well there. Of course, I have already told him that I expect Panathinaikos to be in front of you

How did you react when you found out that Biel was leaving Copenhagen and coming to Greece for Olympiakos?

“We’re talking about football, I knew he would decide what was best for him and his career. So I’m happy for Pep because he made what he thinks is the best decision for his future.”

I guess he asked you a few things. What advice did you give him? For the climate, the derbies and Greek football in general.

“We talked about Greece, he asked me what it was like to live there and I told him it was very different from Denmark. That there will be sun every day and he will have a great time. He also asked me about Olympiakos but I don’t know much. The only thing I said to him is that Olympiakos are a great team in Greece and they will definitely do well there. Of course, I already told him: ‘I expect Panathinaikos to be in front of you’ (laughs)”.

How does a player of such quality come to Greece at 25 and not stay in a team that plays in the Champions League or moves to a better league?

“Okay, it’s his choice. It’s definitely good for him, he spoke to the manager and they made him go to Greece and choose Olympiacos over other teams. The way they approached him, played a role in him going to Olympiacos in the end.” “.

I prefer him to play ten, I think that’s his best position. He is of course a multitasker and does everything very well

What is his normal position on the field?

“I prefer him to play ten, I think that’s his best position. He’s good eighth as well, and he had a terrible season as a striker last year. At the beginning he played on the wing here. He’s natural versatile.” and does everything very well. But his position is ten in my opinion.”

What are its good qualities? What sets him apart. I mean technique, power, perception. What can the world of Olympiacos expect from him?

“He has a very good technique and is a player who really gives everything. He assists, he scores goals, he’s also very good at set pieces. He likes to play with his teammates, combines, he’s a team player.”

Do you think he is a player who can make a difference and be loved by the world?

“For him, for my friend, I hope he’s fine and the people of Olympiakos love him. I’m sure he’ll manage to win them over. We live next to each other in Copenhagen, we have very good relationships and I “I’m sure he’ll manage to love in Greece like he does here”.

I didn’t want to play with the Turks. I was glad we passed but I was sad for Siopi and Bakaseta because they are my friends

Two words about your qualification in the groups against two Greeks, Siopis and Bakaseta. How were those two games and what do you expect from the groups now? The city in particular scares most people.

“The two games with Trabzonspor were very difficult and I played against Siopis and Bakaseta, who I know very well and have relationships with. To be honest, I didn’t want to play Turkey, but unfortunately the draw made it so. It was good that I saw them and that I was an opponent, in the end I was happy that we went through, but I was sad for these two guys who are my friends. We knew only one could get through. Luckily for us we made it. As for the group, it’s tough, let’s do it the best we can to enjoy it and make it difficult for our opponents.”

I never close the door to return to Greece, only to Panathinaikos

Would you consider returning to Greece or have you forgotten? They spent many years here and joined Panathinaikos.

“I couldn’t get my mind off coming back. We’ll see what the future brings. I came back from an injury that kept me out for ten months and I couldn’t play two games in a row. Firstly, ‘I’m going good and then we’ll see. It’s the last year of my contract in Copenhagen. I never close the door when I return to Greece, but only for Panathinaikos would I return. Unless, of course, he closes the door on me (laughs).

A comment on Poget’s national team…

“I wasn’t with the boys and I don’t have many words to say. The Greek fans and I with them see that we’re doing very well. We’ve been excellent in those first four games, we’ve already come first in the group and I I hope we can continue like this”.
