Attica region: “35 million euros for the OPAP Arena, funding for the botanical garden and swimming pool at SEF”
In a post on social media, the Attica Region indicated that it had allocated 35 million euros for the OPAP Arena and accompanying projects in the N. Philadelphia – Chalkidonas municipality, while emphasizing that the double redevelopment will be implemented in Botanicos ( or implemented) with funds from the region, but also the swimming pool at the SEF.
The Attica Region issued a statement explaining that it had provided €35 million to the Municipality of N.Philadelphia – Chalkidona for the construction of the OPAP Arena, the underground underpass and other accompanying projects.
At the same time, in its announcement, the region announced that it will allocate 20 million euros for the double redevelopment in Botanicos and at the same time will finance the establishment of a swimming pool at SEF, as well as other sports projects in the region’s territory, such as the multipurpose bioclimatic sports center of Nea Smyrni, the headquarters of Panionio.
The announcement of the Attica region in detail: “€35 million from the Attica region for AEK’s new stadium and associated projects in the N. Philadelphia-Chalkidona community.
Attica Region Services have contributed to the completion of the project and are prioritizing the safe operation of the new stadium for spectators
The administration of the region supports its employees and we are sure that the necessary interventions indicated will be made immediately by the administration of AEK so that “Agia Sophia” can quickly welcome the fans and the historic team
We have realized the dream, “Agia Sophia” strengthens the sporting “equipment” of Attica. But we don’t stop there
The current administration of the Attica region has played a key role in making every AEK sports fan’s dream come true.
It is the Patoulis administration that from 2020 to date has allocated more than 35,000,000 euros for the construction and equipment of the new AEK Stadium, while at the same time carrying out the necessary interventions in the underpass of a section of Patriarchou Konstantinou Street and others has carried out accompanying projects in the community of Nea Philadelphia’s Chalkidonas, with the aim of the smooth operation of the sports facility, safe access for spectators and the improvement of traffic conditions in the wider area.
With deeds, not words, we have strengthened the sport of Attica with another modern sports facility that will delight the athletes of the historical AEK association and sports fans from all over the country. An installation that will also be a point of reference for Hellenism in Asia Minor.
The Attica Region Administration fully supports its managers and employees in their difficult work.
The managers of the Attica Region Services play a crucial role not only in the construction phase, but also in the approval and safe operation of the sports facilities.
In their difficult and responsible work, they have the full support of the current administration of the Attica Region to apply without exception everything that the legislation provides. And in the case of the approval of the new AEK stadium, this rule applies because the safety of the citizens is a priority for all of us. We are sure that the AEK management has the same priorities as us, which will do everything necessary for the new stadium to open its doors as soon as possible and to welcome the spectators and the team safely.
Major sports projects underway in Attica region
But it’s not just AEK’s new stadium, many other sports projects are being implemented or are about to be implemented in Attica with funds from the Attica Region. For example:
- The New Closed Bioclimatic Multipurpose Sports Center of Nea Smyrna Municipality, with a capacity of 3,500 seats and a total auction budget of 20,850,000.00 euros, is the seat of the historic Panionios
- The conversion of the new indoor stadium “P. Kapagerov” in Piraeus with a total budget of 8,500,000 euros.
- The infrastructure projects with a budget of more than 20,000,000 euros that the Attica Region will finance to implement the double reconstruction of Botanikos and the new stadium of PAO
- Financing the construction of the new indoor swimming pool for the needs of Olympiacos and the national polo team in the wider area of the SEF, a project for which we await the studies of Olympiacos in order to proceed with its implementation.
- The study for the reconstruction of the National Gymnastics Federation’s open-air swimming pool, the installation of hybrid grass on the pitch of the Municipal Stadium of Peristeri “Atromitos-Aggelos Ramfos”, as well as dozens of sports projects throughout Attica.
With a vision, a plan and actions and not as in the past with empty words and cheap promises, Attica is also changing its sporting infrastructure“.
