Van Wert is officially an AEK player

AEK completed another transfer when they announced the signing of Dutch forward Tom Van Wert, who previously belonged to Volos, confirming Sportish’s report. The experienced striker signed with Union until the summer of 2024.

It is recalled that on Tuesday (6/9) the Magnesia team announced their transfer to the Union. Van Wert passed his medical and then signed his contract.

Last season he was the top scorer in the Super League with 17 goals in 32 appearances. Before the Magnesia team he had played in Den Bosch, Aalborg, Groningen and Aalborg.

“PAE AEK announces the acquisition of soccer player Tom Van Weert from Volos NPS. The Dutch striker has signed a cooperation agreement with our team until summer 2024.

Tom Van Weert was born on June 7, 1990 in Sind Michielschestel, The Netherlands. He took his first steps in football with RKVV, a team from his region, and then moved to Den Bosch’s infrastructure department, where he also signed his first professional contract. Overall, she wore her jersey in 118 games (45 goals, 12 assists).

In the summer of 2014 he signed with Excelsior. He played with the Rotterdam team in the next two years in 70 games (31 goals, 6 assists). The next stop in his career was Groningen, where he played 54 games and scored 18 goals (4 assists).

In August 2018 he moved to Denmark, signed a three-year contract with Aalborg and made a total of 91 appearances (31 goals, 9 assists). He first arrived in Greece on behalf of Volos NPS in July 2021 and quickly attracted attention with his performances and goals.

He made 34 appearances in the 2021–22 season and scored 17 goals while being the league’s top scorer. That year he managed to play in three league games and score once.
