EPO rejects Sidiropoulos’ appointment, Baltakos will speak to Bennett
EPO President Takis Baltakos issued a statement on the appointment of Tasos Sidiropoulos at Panathinaikos – AEK, claiming he had nothing to do with the appointment while he would speak to Chief Arbiter Steve Bennett. to voice his concerns.
At today’s EPO Executive Committee meeting, the nomination of Tasos Sidiropoulos for Sunday’s Panathinaikos – AEK derby was discussed (9.11., 21:30, COSMOTE SPORT1HD, LIVE Sportish).
The Executive Committee does not agree with this decision and the President of the EPO, Takis Baltakos, will address the English chief referee, Steve Bennett, to express his concerns.
The President of the EPO had previously made this clear in his statement it has nothing to do with the definition since the KED works autonomously.
The statement of Mr. Baltakos:
Regarding the appointment of Greek referees in the match between the teams PANATHINAIKOS – AEK for the 4th match day of Super League 1, neither I personally nor the Hellenic Football Federation as a whole had any knowledge or connection.
It is exclusively a decision of the members of the Central Arbitration Committee (CED), which acts autonomously and independently on the basis of the statutes of the EPO and the recommendations of the Holistic Study, so it also bears the corresponding responsibility for the concrete definition.
