Mantzios: “The win with AEK was very important, the game with Volos was difficult”
Akis Mantzios stressed that everyone on Mars wanted the win over AEK to be dedicated to the memory of the unbeaten Alkis, while for the game against Volos he spoke about the physical and mental toughness the Yellows need to have.
Aris counts two consecutive successes in the Super League Interwetten, against Panaitolikos in Agrinio and against AEK in Kleanthis Vikelidis, with the goal of course the … good night on Saturday (5/2, 19:30, Novasports Prime and LIVE by Sportish), where they host Volos as part of the 22nd game.
The opponent will of course be both game fatigue, as this will be the third game in a week, and mental, as the players and the entire body of the Yellows have been tested in the last 24 hours after the 19’s murder -year-old friend of the team, Alki Kampanou, who shocked the whole of Greece.
Akis Mantzios spoke to Nova’s camera on Friday (4/2) about the uniqueness of the match against AEK, which took place in the shadow of Alkis’ death at Aris headquarters, but also about the difficulty of the match against Volos.
Details of what Aris’ coach said:
On defeating AEK and what that means to him: “It was a victory of special importance. Unfortunately, this fact has shocked us with the unjustified loss of Alkis and made us all very concerned. “As an organization, we really wanted to dedicate this victory to this child who died so unjustly.”
On how he experienced the match with AEK: “The climate was difficult. They saw that all the children were very worried and upset. It is a fact that we have all condemned and we want the culprits to be found and punished. “What happened has nothing to do with football.”
Whether the victory in the derby changed the atmosphere in the team: “When you win, the psychology comes back and we want to build on that. We played a good game, we won fairly and if we consider that we come from a busy schedule and are up a cup and a half in relation to our opponents, I think the kids reacted with their souls until the last minute . “Even when we conceded that nice goal from Araούjo in 86′, we didn’t give up and showed that we wanted to win the game and we did it.”
On the game against Volos: “The program is too busy. It’s a tough game like everything. To rest and react to a game again, we have to be very strong, both mentally and physically, to win it.
