When James Rodriguez inspired the worst article headline ever
James Rodriguez was the player who turned heads at the 2014 World Cup and was praised by all media around the world. The Times of India, on the other hand, was the one with the worst headline ever: “The name is Bond, James Rodriguez”.
James Rodriguez got the world talking in 2014 when he impressed with both his performances for Colombia at that year’s World Cup and his shock goal against Uruguay in the round of 16.
It was that goal that caused an “earthquake” and the entire football world was talking about him. All media around the world – some smaller, some larger – had made reference to the then 23-year-old Colombian star.
But the “award” – if there was one – for worst article title ever would go to the Times of India, which wrote: “The name is Bond, James Rodriguez”, considering the pronunciation of Rodriguez’s name is the same as Bond’s i.e. “James”.
