Aris’ announcement in detail:
“PAE ARIS announces the signing of Oghenekaro Peter Etebo, as his full name is, for the next year.
Peter Etebo was born on November 9, 1995 in Warri, Nigeria.
His impressive performances for Warri Wolves in his first professional steps did not go unnoticed by many European clubs.
It was Feirense who brought him to Europe with Etebo in January 2016 to help the club’s promotion to the Portuguese first division.
Another outstanding season followed for Feirense and the Nigerian midfielder was loaned to Spanish club Las Palmas in the middle of his third season.
After 52 appearances (9 goals and 5 assists) for Feirense and 14 appearances in half a season in La Liga, Peter Etebo was ready for the next step in his career.
In the summer of 2018, several Premier League and Championship sides expressed interest in Etebo, who chose Stoke City.
His first season in England was very positive. But Stoke City’s second-season managerial change also changed the situation for the Nigerian midfielder, who went on a six-month loan to Spanish club Getafe in January 2020.
Fifty-one appearances (2 goals) in the Championship and FA Cup was his tally for Stoke City before moving to Spain. There he played 11 times (1 goal) and returned to England at the end of the season.
At the beginning of the following year, he was loaned out again, this time to Turkey for Galatasaray, where he played 29 games, almost winning the Turkish League in the process, with Galatasaray losing the title in the draw against Besiktas (on goal difference).
Last season he played on loan at Watford, who had just returned to the Premier League.
Etebo has been an integral part of the Nigeria national team in recent years. He has played in major national team competitions and has made 44 appearances (3 goals) to date.
As of today, Oghenekaro Peter Etebo is part of the ARIS family!”.
