Olympiacos announced Jose Anigo as their new technical director
Jose Anigo will become Olympiacos’ new technical director, the Red and Whites announced on Wednesday (21/09), with the 61-year-old Frenchman also retaining his role as Piraeus Academy director.
Olympiacos is preparing to officially unveil Mitchell as his new coach (at 15:15 Vangelis Marinakis will “introduce” him to the press just before the start of his second term in the big port), but a little earlier he moved on to a more important one about placement in sense of the organizational chart.
This has to do with Jose Anigo who, alongside his role as director of the Olympiakos academy, will have another important role, that of technical director of the football department.
The announcement of Olympiakos in detail:
“PAE Olympiacos announce that Jose Anigo is taking over as Director of Football.
Anigo will remain director of Olympiakos Academy alongside his new role and will link the operations of the first team, second team and infrastructure departments.
The 61-year-old Frenchman is linked with Marseille, where he initially worked as a backup coach, managing the likes of Samir Nasri, Seydou Keita, Mathieu Flamini, Andre and Jordan Ayew.
As first-team coach, he led them to the 2004 UEFA Cup final and as head of football department to a league, three cups, five appearances in the Champions League and four in UEFA, having worked with players such as Drogba, Ribéry, Valbuena , Ben Arfa, Bartez and Mandada.
He has coached several teams as head coach while taking charge of scouting for Nottingham Forest in October 2019.”
