The offensive dystopia of PAOK and the derbies that followed
During the break, Razvan Lucescu will have to find solutions to PAOK’s scoring difficulties ahead of the crash tests with Panathinaikos, AEK and Olympiakos.
Losing points against OFI in Heraklion, PAOK have the days of the break at their disposal to correct their shortcomings and be more effective in the following games.
The truth is that the two-headed program makes it even harder from now on. October will show the strength of its squad as PAOK will play three derbies away with Panathinaikos (1/10) at Toumba, Olympiakos (15/10) and AEK (29/10).
First crash test is with the Greens on Matchday 6, then Dikefalos travels to Livadia ahead of the derby with Olympiakos in Karaiskakis. Next up is the game against Asteras Tripoli in Toumba, before closing out the month with the double-header away derby in Athens.
Razvan Lucescu’s side have three games away from home, including the two derbies against Olympiacos and AEK, while they are yet to win a double this season. In fact, PAOK have had an away win since last March and their last game against Union.
Razvan Lucescu gave his players a three-day break until Thursday (22/9) when he awaits them for training sessions in which the Dikefalo internationals (Kotarski, Dadas, Živković, Kurtić and Koulierakis along with Panagiotou Balomeno) will be absent. , Konstantelia have received calls from federal technicians).
The Romanian coach’s biggest problem is his team’s attacking dystopia. PAOK have played seven games since the start of this season, including the games against Levski Sofias.
In two of them he didn’t score a goal (with Lefski in Bulgaria and Aris in Kl. Vikelidis), in four he scored 1 (Lefski in Toumba, Panaitoliko, Lamia and OFI on Crete) and only in the match against Atromitos he managed a goal twice celebrate in a game.
In most of these games, PAOK created several chances – but also lost – and this is a problem that can prove crucial for Lucescu and his players.
