With all the people and my family and my friends I always talked about how nice I spent at Olympiakos and Greece, how much I loved the club and our country and at that moment it turns out that I have a lot of friends here left.

I wish we could be in the same mood again and relive those moments like we did back then, but for that we need wins. I know I’ve come to a big club that has a lot of fans, a big part of society who love the club, not just when they win.

And I know that I have a great responsibility and that everyone who wears the Olympiakos shirt needs to know that what is written on the front of the shirt is more important than what is written on the back.” the Spanish coach initially argued.

“And that’s why we’re going to use the past again to make the present the way we want it to be, and there’s only one way to do that.” This can only be done with humility, hard work and responsibility.

We know that we have experienced many beautiful moments and have achieved this with hard work, with responsibility, with confidence and trust and not just by name. We have good players and it’s not just the name that counts.

How did contacts go for your second term at Olympiacos? And how many players would he like to work with because there are too many in the training center at the moment?

“Contacts were very fast, I received a call on Sunday evening, the person who called me is between us and the answer came immediately: “What time do we have training on Wednesday?” I’m telling you to understand , however, how much desire there was and there was an intention to return to Olympiakos.

It’s a problem to have so many players, it’s a disadvantage for the coach and for the team itself and the players. That’s why I asked the president and the team people not to have more than 24 players, excluding the goalkeepers. I think that seemed right to everyone because it also gives players who are not on the European list the opportunity to participate and both Europe and the Greek league are important to us. I know what I asked for is not easy, but I know it will be done.”

What should change after experiencing Olympiakos again?

“I know we are going through a difficult period at the moment but we have the ability and the means to get through it. We have good players, we have time ahead of us and we also want to calm things down a bit, the nervousness that’s there at the moment. We know the difficulties well, not only in feeling but also in results. And that might make us pessimistic.

But we are realistic and we know the players we have, the qualifications and we know how to turn that into a good performance. We have something that others don’t have, the constant and non-negotiable support of our fans. They don’t just want to see the team win, they want to see the team do well and they love it.”

What would you change first about the team?

“What we’re going to try to do is bolster their confidence, which has been lost and is understandably low. There is something that is non-negotiable and we will not discuss it again. What we want are profits. To do that you have to have good footballers and we have that.

If the players gain confidence, believe in their abilities and realize their superiority, then it’s sure to be even better than last time. You don’t have to believe in the manager, you have to believe in yourself and see what club they are in and they will.

In your introduction you said that the call from Olympiakos made you happy again, that is, your team was remembered. Can you do what you couldn’t do last time on the team bench?

“The move from Olympiakos was really unforgettable for me. It’s a place I’ve been at for a long time and I’ve felt like part of the team and that’s why I’ve continued to follow and love the team. More than the results, what made me happy here was the psychology that was present in the team, the very good atmosphere in the team and I’m sure we’ll do it again soon. I think this time we will be like my first time at Olympiakos and even better. I see even better players in the team, I want them to feel that and I think they understand that themselves.”

Did you imagine that you would have Marcelo and Hames as players at Olympiakos?

“In the 24 hours I was in Athens, everyone talked to me about Marcelo and they didn’t tell me how good a footballer he is, everyone knows that, but how humble he is as a player and that’s a Characteristic of Marcelo the personality of every footballer who has triumphed at Real.

That’s an amazing thing for every club in Europe and every dressing room in Europe. Everyone wants to have such a great teammate by their side. They are players who show you how to compete.
