Corberan: ‘Results give you time at Olympiakos, not the other way around’
Carlos Corberan gave an interview to Colombian radio in which he mentioned his departure from Olympiakos and the arrival of James Rodríguez in the Red and Whites.
Olympiacos’ Carlos Corberan is a thing of the past. The Spanish technician gave an interview to Caracol Radio’s VBar on Tuesday, in which he pointed out the divorce with the “Red-Whites”, but also the arrival of James Rodríguez at Olympiakos and his presence in the match with Aris.
The 39-year-old Spanish coach noted that Olympiacos is a team where successful results give you time to work and present your philosophy. He stressed that he was not disappointed despite his departure, while regarding Rodríguez and his participation with only two training sessions in the Olympic team against Aris, he argued that his quality was such that he had this opportunity.
The interview he gave to VBar was subsequently reproduced by “AS” in Colombia and Spain.
For Olympiakos, Corberan said:
“The first goal was achieved, taking the team to the Europa League and then of course those games came with league games to start the league. When you sign for Olympiakos you know it’s a club that needs to win. ” where it needs to be to get results and they give you time and not the other way around.
There are clubs that give you time to get results and other clubs where results give you the time to manifest the idea of the game that will continue to allow you to get results.”
And he continued:
“I know the team I’ve joined very well, the winning mentality they have and so I’m not disappointed in any way. You always want to develop your work further and achieve the goals you have set for yourself.”
Referring to James Rodríguez’s presence at Olympiakos and his debut after just two days, he remarked:
“YThere are players who have that ability, or there are some who have a very high disposition, a very high potential, and you know it might not take the time that others would. A difference. Hames is a level player who doesn’t need that time, only with his disposition and know-how he is able to compete at another level.”
And he continued:
“We are talking about a player who was and is a worldwide reference and is able to make a difference and in the end he should evaluate in two days, test a little whether he is ready to play or not. It was with his disposition and that made it easier for him to play the game.
As a manager you have to use players who you think will help the team win the game and I did that with Hames. When the team was with Hames they actually won and by substituting him they scored the two goals that prevented us from winning that game.”
In the same interview, he also referred to his career to date, saying:
“I started working at Villarreal, where I spent 6 seasons, three of them in the first team, and I also met Zapata, a Colombian player. When I finished that experience at Villarreal, I followed up with his second coach, Juan Manuel Lillo Saudi Arabia, also known in Colombia, and I worked for three years as an assistant coach at various clubs before taking the step and becoming the first coach in Cyprus, in Europe, in the first division. and added
“Then I was called up for the Leeds United project in England where I first managed the subsidiary team and then I was in the first team with Marcelo Bielsa where we were promoted to the Premier League, after that promotion I got the call from Huddersfield and me . I spent two seasons with the team until this summer when I signed the contract that united us because I wanted to aim for a club with sporting ambitions and that was the reason why Olympiacos arrived 6 weeks ago.
