Tzolaki’s Chance, Vatslik’s Magnetic Chance, and Paschalaki’s
Mitchell has been thinking for days about starting Tzolakis in Olympiakos’ game against Atromitos on Sunday (2/10, 4pm, COSMOTE SPORT 1) and the Greek goalkeeper will get his chance after Tomas Vatslik’s injury.
Czech goalkeeper Tomas Vačlik suffered a blow to his right shoulder and was substituted on Tuesday evening (27th) in the second half against Switzerland. He arrives in Athens on Wednesday afternoon (9/28) and will undergo an MRI scan condition.
Incidentally, the veteran goalkeeper says he suffered from shoulder pain at an Olympiacos game last month, he received treatment and was ready in around 24 hours.
The amount of the damage will therefore largely decide whether Olympiacos will proceed with the acquisition of a goalkeeper or not.
Mitchell argued at the executives meeting that he did not want any further additions to the roster (referring also to the cases of Kasami and Elabdelawi) as the energetic potential could live up to the challenges and commitments until the mid-November championship break, but then that came Vačlik’s injury added.
If Vačlik’s MRI shows it’s nothing to worry about, perhaps the red-whites will carry on as before. If the Czech is sidelined for a few weeks, it’s not out of the question that the Piraeus side will take a goalkeeper from the free agent market.
Olympiacos have been looking for a foreign goalkeeper for the past two weeks but nothing has sparked interest, but Paschalakis’ solution is also on the table. More on the red-white dispositions on this particular issue will be revealed throughout the day.
