Volos 2-0 Aris: Cleaned up in five minutes with Deletics and Barrientos
Volos once again proved that it is a tough nut to crack against the “big ones” when they defeated Aris 2-0 in Panthessalikos. Deletic and Barrientos are the scorers of the Braçu team that overtook the yellow ones in the standings.
Volos scored his second consecutive win in Panthessalikos, defeating Aris 2-0 on Super League match day six. Thessalians cleaned up the game within five minutes of the first half thanks to goals from Deletic and Barrientos in the 26th and 26th minutes respectively. 30 minutes.
Costa Brats players were superior in the first half, taking advantage of the phases given to them while also limiting the Aris threat. In the second half, Alho was sent off in the 55th minute and Aris had his chances but couldn’t get anything out of the game.
The hosts opened the gate in the 26th minute. Ozegovic came into the penalty area with great individual energy and took the shot. Cuesta hits him but the ball is put down to Deletic, who heads the ball into the net from close range.
Five minutes later, Volos scored a second goal in the 30th minute. Ozegovic won a penalty after a Mazikos goal. The execution was carried out by Barrientos, who defeated Cuesta.
The match
The first half went quite well, both teams played quite well and wanted to play offensive set football.
Aris only threatened in the fifth minute. Dabo failed to send the ball towards goal after a spin from Embakata, while in the development of the stage the Yellows’ defense attempted a shot that was blocked by the Volos defence.
In the 11th minute, Aris came close to scoring. Diop saw the ball coming towards him in the penalty area, but his shot went wide. Seconds later it was Volos’ turn to press. After a cross from the left, Ozegovic got a header and the ball went just wide of the goal.
As the game progressed, Volos found Questa’s shots easier, scoring the two goals within five minutes. After 30 minutes into the game, there was no lack of tension between the two players, due to the harsh markings and referee Vergetis’ decisions with which they disagreed.
In the second half Volos came into play strongly and scored a goal which he scored in the 47th minute. Paolo Fernandez did a great dribbling and turned on Meskidas, who put the ball into the net from close range. The goal was disallowed for offside as Ozegovic, who touched the ball, was flagged for offside early in the period.
Volos was left with ten players in the 54th minute. Alho attacked Iturbe illegally and was sent off by Vergetis. Palma took over but his attempt went over Kleiman’s crossbar.
Aris took control of the game, taking advantage of the fact that he was playing with another player. In the 67th minute, Mancini tried to threaten a direct corner, but Kleiman and the crossbar denied him a chance to put the ball in the net.
Pardew went all out, using all of his blocking midfielders in the 68th minute while Volos was confined to his frames. Aris mainly pressed from the right with Embakata’s infills, but few of them threatened Volos’ defense.
Gervinho breathed new life into Aris with his arrival and in the 90th minute he almost put the ball in the net but Kleiman stopped him with a 2-0 scoreline to stay until the end.

Despodov became an integral part of a well-coordinated machine: the two great performances against Kifissia
Kirill Despodov put in his best performance with the PAOK jersey in the 2023 final and showed that he has fully integrated into Razvan Lucescu’s group. The Bulgarian midfielder’s outstanding performances against Kifissia.
PAOK ideally completed its commitments before the end of 2023, when it passed Kaisariani with full football and played the newly enlightened Kifissia.
Lucescu’s men produced their most productive performance in this year’s Stoiximan Super League, finishing second in threat as their 15 final appearances were valuable 2.29 xGoals. The previous event happened three days ago in Tripoli when they beat Asteras 4-1. Thomas Murg’s star shone in this game. In Caesariani, Kirill Despodov was MVP.
The Bulgarian midfielder was one of six goalscorers for the Black and Whites and provided three assists, marking his most successful appearance for the Black and Whites. Tyson and Zivkovic were absent from these two games (Asteras and Kifisia), but their absence was never felt. And in this (especially at Kifissia) Despodov played an important role.
Despodov’s two great performances against Kifissia
Kirill Despodov was deployed on the right attacking wing, the position where Lucescu uses him most often, and the Bulgarian once again fulfilled his role. In fact, he was the player higher up the field (77) than Brandon Thomas (71) who turned further back on the field several times, as we can see in the Opta Stats/Perform graph.
Lucescu held him the entire game and Despontov finished the game with 58 actions with the ball. In fact, ten of them were in the Anagnostopoulos area. It was the highest performance by a Dikefalo player in the league, behind Tomas’ 11 appearances against Lamia.
In one of these ten actions, Despodov scored with a beautiful shot from deep. Where it stood out from Kifissia was the creation part. Created four finals All three even provided assists for his teammates (for goals from Thomas, Murg and Ozdoev).
At the same time he had four successful dribbles a record performance by a PAOK player in 90 minutes. Because Despodov was high up the pitch, he didn’t have many passes, but he had a very good scoring rate 26/32 precise passes.
The Bulgarian started perfectly at PAOK, but gradually experienced a slight decline as his role in Dikefalos is different to the one he had in Ludogorets. But now he shows that he is fully integrated, which is clear from both his appearances and his statements.
The summer addition of Despontov and the return of Murg gave Lucescu the opportunity to comfortably and successfully navigate the league and Conference League by splitting time and opening up the rotation. These two footballers were able to adequately fill the gap left by Živković and Tyson, who were missing in the last few games.
